How much does a tour cost?
We endeavor to plan tours to accommodate a variety of budgets. London is one of the most expensive cities in the world, and we recognize that for many this may be the “trip of a lifetime.” As such, we choose hotels in a range from “safe and clean” to “superior” – but always places we have stayed in the past. We offer tour options that include guided and un-guided sightseeing activities, and tour options that have a range of included meals. Examples of different types of tours are available for perusal on our website, but understand that they are only examples and pricing is an estimate based on current conditions and exchange rates. (At the time of writing the exchange rate is $1.34 for £1, we have seen rates of $1.15 as recently as a year ago.) Actual tour itineraries may differ and are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. Actual pricing is tour-dependent.
How strenuous are the tours?
Walking is an integral part of the pub crawl experience. Generally, we are walking over flat and well-maintained sidewalks, but there are occasions that include hills and cobblestones. Distances are almost always less than a quarter mile but may be nearly a half mile on rare occasion, covered at a pace somewhere between “leisurely” and “brisk.” If any of these present an insurmountable obstacle, then this tour may not be suitable for you.
Flat surfaces are OK, but what about stairs?
Stairs and steps are a fact of life in Europe. While lifts (elevators) and escalators are not uncommon in more modern and modernized facilities, the classic London pub would not be considered modern (or modernized) by any stretch of the imagination. Private/group dining rooms are almost always on the first floor (second floor to Americans) and restrooms are often in basements or on an upper level. In some situations our hotel may not have a lift (but they do provide assistance with luggage) and a breakfast room in the basement. While we can always provide details on our accommodations in advance, it’s impossible to know the particulars of every potential pub and restaurant we may encounter along the way, especially if we are forced to make unanticipated schedule changes.
How much beer do we get?
Pub crawl stops include a half-pint of beer or cider. This is by design; to keep our participants upright and moving forward during our adventures. Should you choose to enjoy additional beverages on your own, please do so responsibly.
What happens at a pub? Do we just drink our beer and then leave?
One of our favorite parts of visiting a pub is meeting locals, so while we’re more than happy to discuss the history of the pub we’re in and all kinds of arcane trivia, we don’t want anyone to feel obligated to forego outside conversation due to a sense of obligation to the group.
Are meals included?
Some meals are included, as indicated in the tour itinerary. Generally speaking, beverages are not included with these meals – details will be shared in advance to avoid any unpleasant surprises. We seek hotels that offer breakfast for both convenience and value. When meals aren't included we seek out options that fit the tone of the tour.
What happens if I can't travel?
We completely understand that "life happens" and, as such, have adopted policies as flexible as possible while still maintaining sound business practices. Deposits, and any payments, remain fully refundable until six months prior to the tour. (Exceptions may apply for special offerings.)
4-6 Months prior - 75% refund
2-4 Months prior - 50% refund
2 Months-1 Week - 25% refund
Less than 1 Week - no refund
We strongly encourage travel insurance coverage for cancellation, interruption, and medical emergencies.
